The legal environment of the independent contractor status has become volatile. This session from the Final Mile Forum 2023 talks about and reviews key legal developments on independent contractor classification from AB5 to the recently published US Department of Labor proposed independent contractor rule.
What leads to a good business model in the final mile sector? There s a lot of information out there! What kind of business am I? Do I need a DOT number? Am I a Broker? What certifications do I need? How so I reduce risk and still operate my business? In this session we address all of these questions and more as we look to better organize our businesses and minimize our risk, particularly in those states that present independent contractor challenges.
This webinar walks through the conceptual concerns raised by the US Department of Labor’s comments in its proposed rule for a rescission of the Trump Era test and the new spin on a pre-existing economic realities test. We will highlight key provisions and next steps to give attendees insight and information to prepare for a new wave of legal challenges to Independent Contractor (IC) classification at the federal level.
You’ll also learn more about what the Government Affairs Committee has been doing in partnership with the Small Business Administration to help craft favorable additions and changes to the proposed rule.
