Support the CLDA Advocacy Fund and Support Your Business

Your CLDA Government Affairs Committee (GAC) has been taking on challenges facing our industry at ‎both a state and national level for the past 12 years through efforts such as:

• Educational opportunities, including webinars, CLDA Express updates and securing speakers ‎from federal agencies for the annual Final Mile Forum, such as representatives from the ‎Transportation Security Administration and the Department of Labor
  
  
• Setting up CLDA’s annual Lobby Day, which provides us with the opportunity to advocate for ‎our industry to members of Congress
  
  
• Organizing a call recently between CLDA president Steve Howard and Secretary of Labor ‎Eugene Scalia, where Steve explained how our business model has helped us provide essential ‎delivery services during the COVID-19 pandemic. Shortly after, the DOL announced they would ‎be releasing a federal rule to provide clarity on the definition of independent contractors, ‎something our industry has been in desperate need of for years.‎
  
  
• Providing support for state issues that could impact our members on the national level, like ‎the Massachusetts Delivery Association case in 2016, which resulted in the courts declaring ‎that the “B” prong of the infamous ABC test was pre-empted by federal law, thus allowing the ‎use of independent contractors in Massachusetts. Although this decision only affected ‎Massachusetts, it did set a positive federal precedent which may impact your state laws in the ‎future. ‎
  
  

It is imperative that we keep our government affairs efforts moving forward, and doing so requires a ‎robust Advocacy Fund. ‎We are truly grateful for the support from the donors listed below, but we cannot defend ourselves in the future ‎without continued contributions to the Advocacy Fund.‎
