Carl DeMaio, born September 14, 1974, is a Republican politician and radio host. He served on the San Diego City Council from 2008 to 2012 and has run for mayor of San Diego and the U.S. House of Representatives. DeMaio is a vocal advocate for pension reform, government transparency, and fiscal conservatism. He founded two government reform organizations, the Performance Institute and the American Strategic Management Institute. DeMaio currently hosts a radio show on NewsRadio 600 KOGO, where he discusses political issues and public policy.
