The Speakers

Andrew Brady

Andrew Brady is the Co-Owner and COO at King Courier, a full-service courier company serving the greater San Francisco Bay Area. Since 1992, he has run operations and been involved in sales for the company.

Starting out as a bike messenger in Boston, MA, Mr. Brady moved to San Francisco in 1990 and continued working in the field, first as a bike messenger at Silver Bullet and then at Executive Courier Network (ECN). At ECN, Mr. Brady progressed rapidly through a variety of positions in dispatch and operations before ECN laid off the entire bicycle messenger division. He and 5 other messengers used this opportunity to start their own company King Courier. King Courier was featured on the BBC America television show "Richard Hammond's Crash Course".

From July 2004 to June 2012, Mr. Brady also owned and operated Bay Area Dispatch and Solutions Systems, a transportation brokerage firm in the Bay Area focused on enabling independent couriers to simultaneously contract with multiple local courier firms without jeopardizing quality of service.

Mr. Brady has previously served as President of the California Delivery Association (CDA), the statewide association of expedited delivery companies in California, from February 2006 to July 2011, and again from 2019 to 2022. Mr. Brady has been a proud CLDA member since 2000 and has been actively involved in serving the association, most recently in the Final Mile Forum Committee.

Blythe Brumleve

Blythe Brumleve got her start in freight marketing as an executive assistant working for a large 3PL in North Florida where she would eventually be tasked with handling the company’s digital media strategy. This is where she earned her chops as a marketer forced to do it all with a limited budget around the time when the inbound marketing concept was born. It was this job and a side-hustle sports blog that earned her eventual roles with a B2B marketing agency, on-air radio talent, and TV talent.

In 2018, she launched Digital Dispatch helping freight companies to put their website on autopilot. In addition to being a creative founder in freight, she hosts the Everything is Logistics podcast, is cofounder of Jax Podcasters Unite, and board member of the Transportation Marketing and Sales Association. Brandon Kitchen

Brandon is a SaaS Sales Expert with over 10 Years of Experience. He currently helps startups in A.I. technology, patient technology, healthcare, logistics and prop tech ranging from one-person to billion-dollar valuations with their go-to-market strategy. Brandon has worked with Wingmate strategically to focus on the key sectors it services (logistics, waste and commercial linen), leveraging the success of companies like Purolator, Waste Management and Sysco. In his personal time, he is an avid traveller, poker player and the caretaker of his four animals.

Brian Jungeberg

Brian Jungeberg, serves as a transportation & logistics insurance specialist for Risk Strategies, a specialty national insurance brokerage. His focus is in assisting clients with insurance & risk management programs that fit their specific needs while protecting their balance sheet. With access to exclusive insurance programs, most standard transportation markets, and captive exclusivity, Brian has the ability to help clients of all shapes & sizes. From freight forwarders & brokers to last mile delivery to long-haul trucking, he understands the unique exposures of each transportation & logistics vertical and has almost 20 years of experience helping clients craft customized insurance solutions.

Charles Pearson

Charles Pearson is the CEO at eTrac Technologies- the leader in providing connectivity between shippers and their local carrier providers. He started his career at Datatrac Corporation and has gone on to serve in executive roles with Local Delivery, SaaS and Location Based Service companies. He is a graduate of East Tennessee State University.

Chuck Moyer

Chuck is an international supply chain veteran, with a wide range of transportation experience for 46 years, 39 of them in the same-day / customized logistics sector. Chuck's background includes CEO of several the country's larger regional providers which provides custom logistics same-day scheduled and on-demand distribution and warehousing logistics to support healthcare, financial services, office products, pharmaceuticals, auto parts, manufactured goods and businesses of all sizes. Chuck now holds the position of President for Task4Pros an APP Platform for flexible workforce solutions. Chuck, has been highlighted in numerous publications and is a frequent speaker covering topics relating to transportation management, supply chain and impact factors relating to warehouse logistics, worker misclassification, same day and overnight transportation. Chuck is the Past President of the CLDA (Customized Logistics and Delivery Association) founder of StayTrue Advisors, Partner with Tompkins Ventures, and President of Task4Pros.

David Robinson

David Robinson is a partner in the Indianapolis office of Scopelitis Garvin Light Hanson & Feary. As a member of the Firm’s Labor and Employment Group, David focuses his practice on employment issues in the transportation arena, and working with transportation employers to craft practical, business-oriented solutions. In an increasingly challenging legal environment, David has substantial experience drafting a wide range of employment contracts, including those involving trade secrets, confidential information, covenants against competition, and non-solicitation of customers. He also counsels clients across a wide range of employment topics including wage and hour compliance, worker classification, drafting of personnel policies, severance arrangements, internal investigations of workplace misconduct, and the defense of discrimination allegations. David regularly defends employers in administrative matters before the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the U.S. Department of Labor, and various state agencies.

Flint Holbrook

Flint is the founder and CEO of TruckSpy. TruckSpy is a telematics and video safety provider focused on protecting fleets and drivers from accident related claims. Prior to founding TruckSpy, Flint owned and operated a trucking company focused on oversized cargo based in Ft Worth TX. Flint holds a BS in Agricultural Engineering from Oklahoma State University and an MBA from Harvard University.

James A. Tompkins, PhD

Founder & Chairman, Tompkins International

Dr. James A. Tompkins is an international authority on designing and implementing end-to-end supply chains. As the founder and Chairman of Tompkins International, his focus over the last several years has been in the areas of digital commerce, unichannel and supply chain reinvention. Over the last 40 years, Tompkins International has evolved from a supply chain consulting firm into an end-to-end supply chain consulting and solutions company, with business units focusing on supply chain consulting, material handling integration, and robotics. His 40-plus years as CEO of Tompkins International and his focus on helping companies achieve profitable growth give him an insider’s view into what makes great companies even better.

Jim received the prestigious Frank and Lillian Gilbreth Industrial Engineering Award from the Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineers (IISE) on June 1, 2015. The award is an attribute that recognizes Dr. Tompkins through the contributions he has provided to the welfare of mankind in the field of industrial and systems engineering. In addition, Jim has served as President of the IISE, the Materials Management Society and the College-Industry Council on Material Handling Education and has been named a Distinguished Engineering Alum by Purdue University. He has also received more than 50 additional awards for his service to his profession.

Jim is a thought leader, sharing insights on supply chain excellence through his thousands of presentations around the world and his YouTube videos have had over a million views. Jim also shares his knowledge and provides up-to-date information on supply chain and business trends via Linkedin and Twitter. He has written or contributed to more than 30 books and over 1,000 articles and has been quoted in hundreds of business and industry magazines.

Jim received his Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering in 1969, his Master of Science in Industrial Engineering in 1970 and his Ph.D. in 1972, all from Purdue University.

Jason Burns

Jason Burns is a passionate business leader in the Greater New Orleans community and the final mile transportation industry. He is a proud 2006 graduate of Vanderbilt University where he was a SEC Academic Honor Roll student-athlete in football and selected as the recipient of the Head Coach’s Dedication Award.

Jason later returned to his hometown to assume a leadership role in his family’s business enterprises, including Burns Management Group (BMG), Global Parking Systems (GPS) and QCS Logistics (formerly Quick Courier Services, Inc). As a second-generation owner and President of QCS, Mr. Burns led the company’s resurgence by developing new service offerings, implementing a new technology platform, and expanding operations into new markets. These initiatives resulted in record growth and QCS was selected to the Inc. 5000 list as one of America’s fastest growing companies for four consecutive years. QCS was also recognized as a Top 100 Icon of Industry by ICIC (Initiative for a Competitive Inner City) in 2014. In 2020, QCS was acquired by Dropoff Inc, a national same day delivery company headquartered in Austin, Tx. with operations in over 25 states. In this new role, he serves as Dropoff’s Director of Corporate Development.

Additionally, Jason has served as a board member of the Customized Logistics and Delivery Association (CLDA) since 2011 and an executive board member since 2016. During his tenure has chaired the following committees: Technology, Final Mile Forum, ELS, Membership and the newly created Diversity & Inclusion.

John Oren

John started his first delivery business in Houston in 1977. The company grew rapidly and expanded throughout the Southwest becoming the Eastway Group of Companies. The Eastway Group provided same-day, express delivery distribution services. In 1994, John consolidated his business with other like businesses to form US Delivery Systems, Inc. (“DLV”-NYSE). As a Founder and Chief Acquisition Officer, John led the effort to make US Delivery Systems the largest same-day, express delivery company in North America. US Delivery was itself acquired by Corporate Express in 1996.

John left US Delivery and became a Partner at Notre Capital Ventures focusing his attention on replicating US Delivery’s success in other highly fragmented and entrepreneurial-driven industries. Notre Capital was recognized as the undisputed leader of “rolling up” fragmented industries in the Motor Coach industry (Coach USA), Manufactured Housing (Homes USA), HVAC (Comfort Systems USA) Heavy-Duty Truck Parts Distribution (Transportation Components USA) among others.

In 2000, John “rolled up” the intermodal transportation industry forming RoadLink USA (now RoadOne). John remained with this business as Chairman and Chief Executive until Fenway Partners acquired RoadLink in 2006. Simultaneous to RoadLink USA’s formation and successful sale, John also formed Pinch Transport, a flatbed carrier focused on providing services to the energy industry. Today, Pinch has eleven terminals providing services across North America.

In 2013, John, with his son, Josh formed SandBox Logistics based upon the over sixty-five patents granted to them related to the transportation, storage and delivery of frac sand to the hydraulic fracturing industry. With their highly creative and patented heavy equipment (including truck chassis, conveying and dust collection systems and rail cars), John and Josh were able to rapidly dominate the frac sand supply chains while eliminating dangerous clouds of silica dust emitted from the conventional methods. At the time John sold SandBox to US Silica, SandBox was delivering over 40,000 truckloads of frac sand per month and is still operating at this level and above today.

Today, John’s entire focus is once again trained on the same-day, express delivery industry with the formation of TUYA Technology. Serving as its CEO, TUYA has introduced a same-day, express delivery marketplace platform in the major markets in Texas and expects to roll this innovative technology out across America in 2024. TUYA is in business to change the way Businesses and Drivers interact with one another to deliver parcels, packages and pallets rapidly across our cities. TUYA owns Hot Shot Final Mile, a traditional same-day, express delivery business operating in Houston, Dallas, San Antonio, Austin and El Paso.

Joi Schurman

Kelly Picard

Kelly Picard has been in the delivery business since 1994, and in her current role, as CEO, is responsible for strategy, leadership, growth and management of the company. She has held a variety of leadership positions, including VP of Sales & COO, in addition to working in all facets of the operations, from driver to dispatcher to terminal manager. In her time with Hackbarth she helped orchestrate the evolution of the firm from an employee-based bank courier, to that of a final mile, routed distribution and dedicated line haul carrier, growing the business from 4 locations to 40. She has been active in the CLDA for many years and has served on the board since 2014.

Picard received her MBA from The Ohio State University with a concentration in leadership and a BA in International Politics and Spanish from Louisiana State University (LSU).

In addition to industry organizations, Kelly has coached her daughters’ volleyball teams and is active in local charitable and community organizations. She and her husband Larry Picard have six children and live in Mobile, AL.

Lisa Boerger

Lisa, a seasoned professional with over a decade in the US Air Force, transitioned into logistics, becoming an ADA Administrator for Mayflower Contract Services in 1996. With pivotal roles in Los Angeles, Orange County, and Johnson County, Iowa, she modernized transportation systems and restructured paratransit services. She excels in optimizing operational efficiency, boosting revenue, and enhancing customer satisfaction. Her expertise extends to regulatory compliance, minimizing company risks, and ensuring driver safety. She pioneered national recruitment and onboarding programs for independent contractors in final mile, over-the-road, and medical delivery services, overseeing compliance, safety, and strategic third-party solutions for advertising, administration, onboarding, and settlement payments. Her extensive knowledge and experience continue within Logistics Assistance Now providing consulting services to assist companies’ operational excellence and customer service and experience as well as assisting independent contractors with developing and operating their business to ensure profits while maintaining excellent customer service, safety, and compliance.

Mark Cossack

Mark has experience in the following industries: courier and trucking, financial services, insurance and technology. He holds a BA in Computer Science along with an MBA, both from the University of St. Thomas in Minnesota. Mark has held VP positions at multiple Fortune 300 companies and currently serves as the President of Priority Courier Experts – VANEX in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area. Priority started in 1997 and has grown into a 500+ vehicle fleet consisting of commercial vehicles including tractor trailers, straight trucks and specialty vehicles, plus a full range of parcel vehicles. Priority’s operations are concentrated in MN and the surrounding states and is the dominant same-day carrier in the region.

Mark has been highly involved and dedicated at both the state and federal levels to preserving the Independent Contractor model. He single-handedly moved the courier industry in MN to be included in a critical statutory definition of an Independent Contractor when trucking and labor forces were trying to exclude its inclusion. Mark continues to work closely with our federal sponsor of IC legislation.

Matt Selby

Matt focuses his practice on transportation law. He represents a variety of domestic and international transportation organizations including motor carriers, leasing companies, third-party logistics providers, regional and national shippers and large private fleets. Matt has served as General Counsel for a transportation company where he regularly dealt with legal, safety, compliance and risk matters. He has extensive experience in litigating transportation related disputes. In addition to his transportation experience, Matt has also been involved in all aspects of several acquisitions including legal and integration into core business as well as overseeing a Compliance and HR Department.

Matt Silverberg

Matt Silverberg is the CEO of Associated Couriers, a life science and healthcare logistics company based in St. Louis, Missouri. He joined the company in 2013 and under his leadership has led the company to become a leader in the time-critical logistics industry throughout the United States and United Kingdom. In the past 3 years, Matt has focused on the company’s M&A strategy executing 4 strategic acquisitions. Associated Couriers is the leading radiopharmaceutical logistics company in the United States. Nitin Gupta is the Founder of Beans.ai, an AI powered location cloud revolutionizing last-mile delivery and the last 100 feet of arrival for first responders. Beans.ai powers address data, routing and dispatch for several leading companies in the US like FedEx, Ontrac, LSO, Instacart, Fetch Package, Courier Express etc. Previously, Nitin led financial intelligence at Uber, which uncovered key metrics and allowed senior leadership to make superior financial decisions. Prior to Uber, Nitin founded the Google On-Demand Search group that integrated rideshare, food ordering, and appointment booking into Google. Pete is the Managing Director for the firm’s Private Fleet & Final Mile transportation practice. Prior to joining the firm, he worked for over 19 years for one of the largest 3rd Party Logistics providers focused on domestic freight transportation services. Pete has held key management and leadership positions of increasing scope and responsibility. He brings a thorough understanding of the transportation, logistics and supply chain industry, and excels at knowing how to align the right talent with organizations to build dynamic teams. He has personally worked with over 200 organizations domestically and globally and has been recognized as a top 10% performer within a nationwide network of 600+ executive recruiters each year since 2019. Peter Schlactus

Peter Schlactus is the Co-Founder and Executive Director at the Association For Delivery Drivers, located in the New York City Metropolitan Area. Peter held several positions both before and during his time at A4DD, including being the Co-President of KBS International Corp, the Managing Director of Brightstone Insurance Services and the Managing Director of Risk Strategies Company. He works to ensure that A4DD delivers success to independent delivery drivers nationwide. Peter graduated with an AB degree in Government with honors from Harvard University. Rahmel Wattley

Not only Host and Creator of the Truck N’ Hustle Podcast, Rahmel Wattley is an entrepreneur, transportation & logistics enthusiast and content creator. He has quickly made a name for himself as a kingmaker and educator in the trucking and logistics space. As a podcaster, his in-depth and relatable interview style has made him a staple and leader in the trucking community as well as a trailblazer; sharing stories of entrepreneurship through the eyes of his many guests. He continues to bring the community together and provide a platform for thought leaders not only online, but also in person with large events such as Truck N’ Hustle’s Annual Transportation & Logistics Conference, FREIGHTFEST. Roberto Sicconi

Roberto Sicconi is a visionary with a fervor for innovation, personalized user interfaces, and universal information access. His career is marked by groundbreaking achievements, including the global launch of IBM’s inaugural Speech Product and the creation of the first IBM product for realistic fabric rendering in CAD design. Sicconi was a pioneer in the development of dialog-based infotainment systems in cars, laying the groundwork for today’s Apple Car Play, Android Auto/Automotive, and ChatGPT-powered systems. As Program Director at IBM Watson, he led the team that clinched the first victory of AI in Jeopardy! in 2011. Sean Spector

Sean has spent his career driving growth and innovation for leading technology and media companies. In 2014 Sean co-founded Dropoff, Inc., which has become a leader in the US for same-day delivery last-mile logistics. There as CEO/President he has scaled the business profitably to 50+ cities and 20+ states servicing Fortune 500 customers in healthcare, retail/ecommerce and industrial. Sean also co-founded GameFly, Inc. in 2002, which pioneered the video game rental subscription business and was backed by Sequoia Capital and Tenaya Capital. There as President and SVP he led marketing, business development, mobile strategy, digital distribution, ad sales, content and M&A efforts. Prior, he was an Online Producer at The Walt Disney Company and an Agent at Creative Artists Agency.

Sean attended the University of Southern California and holds a B.A. in Film Theory and Criticism from San Francisco State University. Sean is married to his college sweetheart, and loves watching his two daughters play competitive sports.

Steve Pletcher

Steven Pletcher serves as principal advisor for the Firm’s employment taxation, employee benefits, and alternative workforce strategies practice areas. Pletcher counsels employers, motor carriers, non-motor carriers, and professional employer organizations. U.S. Representative Virginia Foxx

Congresswoman Virginia Foxx represents North Carolina’s 5th District in the United States House of Representatives. Throughout her time in Congress, Foxx has established herself as a champion of conservative values and has helped lead the national movements to reduce federal government spending and increase government oversight and accountability. She currently serves as the Chairwoman of the House Committee on Education and the Workforce.

Representative Foxx is a visible leader in the House Republican Conference, where she regularly takes a stand for the principles of individual freedom and limited government. She was also the first member of her 2004 class to introduce and pass a substantive bill in the House.

In 2008 Foxx successfully passed a bill to streamline the federal government and save taxpayer money. This accomplishment makes her one of the few members of Congress who took office in 2004 who got legislation signed into law in both the 109th and 110th Congresses.

As the Chairwoman of the House Subcommittee on Higher Education, Foxx led efforts to modernize and reform the nation’s workforce development system. In 2014, the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA), which provided a long overdue reform of the Workforce Investment Act, was signed into law. WIOA, a bipartisan, bicameral compromise between the Foxx-authored SKILLS Act (H.R. 803) and the Workforce Investment Act of 2013 (S. 1356), streamlines and improves existing federal workforce development programs and fosters a modern workforce that American businesses can rely on to compete.
